Publication of new clinical data concerning renal denervation at The Lancet

13/9/2017

In the recent European Society of Cardiology Congress (Barcelona, August 26-30, 2017), the SPYRAL HTN-OFF MED study was presented as a Late-Breaking Clinical Trial, concurrently published in the prestigious medical journal Lancet (Impact Factor 2017: 47.83). In this study, Associate Prof. Konstantinos Tsioufis and Prof. Dimitrios Tousoulis (Director of the 1st Cardiology Clinic, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Hippokration Hospital) were principal  researchers, and the clinic was the highest recruiting center globally.  This multicentre, randomized, sham-controlled study with participating centers in America, Europe, Australia and Japan has provided evidence that renal sympathetic denervation lowers blood pressure in hypertensives.  These results pave the way for future larger prospective studies in this field.
